Robin Wright does not recommend wading through the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C.

The Damsel actress recalled filming the scene in 1994's Forrest Gump in which her character Jenny and costar Tom Hanks's titular character run through the Reflecting Pool to hug each other.

In an interview with DC Film Girl's Lauren Veneziani, Wright, 57, said the water was "very dirty."

"I think, I was told — maybe you know differently — that I was the first person to ever be able to step foot in that water. Very, very dirty water. Don't do it. Don't try this at home," she said with a laugh.

"Yeah, there were some Coke cans at the bottom," added Wright.

Forrest Gump, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, won six Oscars, including Best Picture. The cast also included Gary Sinise and Sally Field.

In a 2021 interview with The Daily Beast, Wright echoed that the Reflecting Pool's water was memorably dirty.

"Yep! And they said at the time that no one has ever been allowed to do such a thing. They would never allow it, and I don’t know why they complied and I got to get in that dirty water," she said.

Wright plays Queen Isabelle in the new fantasy film Damsel opposite Millie Bobby Brown, Angela Bassett and Nick Robinson.

"We giggled a lot, we did," she told DC Film Girl of working with the cast. "It was in Portugal in summer — it was so hot. We were dying. So most of the time between takes we were just fanning ourselves in the corner of the cathedral."

Damsel is on Netflix Friday.
