Robert Schwentke Eyed As Director Of ‘G.I. Joe’ Spinoff At Paramount

Robert Schwentke, who has directed films like The Divergent Series: Insurgent, R.I.P.D., and The Time Traveler’s Wife, is in early discussions to helm Snake Eyes, the G.I. Joe spinoff from Paramount Pictures.

The Huntsman: Winter’s War scribe Evan Spiliotopoulos wrote the script based on the Hasbro toy. Snake Eyes is the silent, masked, ninja commando who is part of the original members of the G.I. Joe Team. The character was featured in 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, played by Ray Park. No word on if Park will be reprising his role in the spinoff.

Brian Goldner is producing.

Variety was first to report this story.
