Robert De Niro on playing a comedic character in ‘The War with Grandpa’

Robert De Niro is one of those iconic actors that is known for his serious, more dramatic roles. Last year he released two movies: “The Irishman” and “Joker.” Both were nominated for Oscars in the Best Picture category, with De Niro flexing his dramatic side. In his new comedy “The War with Grandpa,” he plays the grandpa, who moves in with his family and takes over his grandson’s room. And you guessed it — comedy ensues. De Niro tells Yahoo Entertainment, he enjoys switching it up. “The projects are all different but for me they’re all good.” And if fans are concerned he’ll retire soon, De Niro says he has no desire to slow down. “I always say the next thing is grandfathers, then great-grandfathers, then great-great-great-grandfather, who knows,” he says. “But I’ll go as long as I can.” “The War with Grandpa” is in theaters Oct. 9.
