Robert De Niro Holds Girlfriend Tiffany Chen's Hand as They Find Their Seats at 2024 Oscars

The 'Killers of the Flower Moon' star also reunited with his 'Taxi Driver' costar Jodie Foster at the 96th annual Academy Awards

Robert De Niro and girlfriend Tiffany Chen had a parents’ night out at the 2024 Oscars.

The 80-year-old actor brought the martial arts instructor — who welcomed a baby girl named Gia Virginia with De Niro in April —  along to Sunday’s 96th annual Academy Awards, where he’s up for best supporting actor for his role in Killers of the Flower Moon. The couple, linked since August 2021, walked the red carpet together before finding their seats at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.

De Niro also embraced his costar from 1976's Taxi Driver, Jodie Foster, ahead of the ceremony.

“He called my mom about the part, and she thought he was crazy,” Foster told Vanity Fair in 2016 of how De Niro helped her get the part as a teen. “But I went in to meet him for an interview. My mom thought, with my school uniform on, there was no way he’d think I was right for it. But he said yes, and she trusted him.”

The father of seven described newborn Gia as “such an adorable baby” to PEOPLE earlier this year.

“[When I] look at her, everything else goes away,” he said. “So it’s a great joy and relief to just be with her in the moment.”

Chen and De Niro first met on the set of 2015’s The Intern, where she played a Tai Chi instructor who helped his character. They started dating in 2021 following his November 2018 split from ex-wife Grace Hightower.

His nomination for Killers of the Flower Moon gives De Niro a career total of nine Oscar nods, putting him alongside just 17 other performers, including Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington, who have eight or more acting nominations. De Niro portrays William Hale, the dubious political mastermind and self-proclaimed King of the Osage responsible for a series of brutal murders in the Osage Nation. Hale was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Killers of the Flower Moon received a total of 10 nominations, including best picture, at this year’s Oscars, just behind Poor Things, which received 11, and Oppenheimer, which picked up 13.

The 96th Oscars will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET.
