Robbie Williams has appeared fully naked on the cover of his upcoming album XXV, as he celebrates 25 years as a solo artist.

The 48-year-old 'Rock DJ' singer has emulated Rodin’s sculpture The Thinker for the artwork on his latest record, and joked that "computer trickery" contributed to him looking in such great shape.

He also said he may stop stripping off once he hits 50 in a couple of years time, according to the Mirror.

"It’s soon, isn’t it?" he said. "I’ve stopped getting my arse out because it looks like something David Bellamy would do a documentary about."

"I can either look good in clothes, or eat," he continued. "I’m not in as good shape as I was in Rock DJ – there was less body fat percentage, I’m a bit bingo wingy these days. I’m making sure I look at least near fighting weight for this promotion."

"The album consists of re-recorded and newly orchestrated versions of my greatest hits recorded with the Metropole Orchestra, alongside a few surprises. I can’t wait to share it with you. RW x"

His new album has been three years in the making and features orchestrated versions of his biggest hits which he recorded with the Netherlands-based Metropole Orkest.

If he secures his 14th no.1 album with XXV, he will surpass Elvis Presley as the male solo artist with the most number one albums.

Meanwhile, Williams also revealed that he'd love a knighthood, if it meant he could bypass an OBE or CBE.

"Sir Robbie would be great," he added to The Sun. "But do you have to get an OBE before that? Because I can’t be arsed. "If it goes OBE, CBE then I am not turning up. Straight to knighthood."

Williams currently lives in LA with his actress wife Ayda Field and their four children - Teddy, Charlton, Coco and Beau.

XXV will be released on September 9.
