Rob Lowe serves dinner to firefighters battling Southern California flames

Rob Lowe is doing his part to fight the fires raging in Southern California.

The former Brat Packer helped crews near his home on Sunday, first taking a hose to the flames alongside the firefighters and then serving up dinner at his place.

He shared a snapshot of his home Saturday depicting the blaze just beyond it.

By Sunday, the Code Black actor had jumped into the fray.

“Helping earlier today,” he captioned a photo of him wielding a hose. “You do what you can, but when it’s time.. you GO.”

Of course, he was happy to take a picture with the crew afterward.

Lowe is one of many celebs who maintain at least one home in the area of Santa Barbara. Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah, and Katy Perry are a few of the other stars who have been affected by the area’s Thomas Fire, which is now the third-largest fire in the history of California.

The 53-year-old has deep roots in the Golden State. While Lowe lived in Ohio for much of his childhood, he famously spent his high school years palling around Malibu — just down the coast from Santa Barbara — with friends including Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, and Robert Downey Jr.
