Roadside Attractions has snagged U.S. rights to the comedy Summer Camp, starring Diane Keaton (Annie Hall), Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell) and Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave), on which we were first to report. Written and directed by Castille Landon (Perfect Addiction), the film is slated for release in theaters on May 31.

Summer Camp tells the story of Nora (Keaton), Ginny (Bates), and Mary (Woodard), who have been best friends since being inseparable at summer camp. As the years have passed, they’ve seen each other less and less, so when the chance to reunite for a summer camp reunion arises, they all take it, some begrudgingly and others excitedly. Each of their lives might not be where they’d imagined, but one thing is for sure — Nora, Ginny, and Mary need each other, and summer camp reminds them why.

More from Deadline

A Saks Picture Company production, in association with and financed by Grant S. Johnson’s Project Infinity (May December), the film also stars Eugene Levy (Schitt’s Creek), Beverly D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation), Dennis Haysbert (Far from Heaven), Nicole Richie (Great News), and Josh Peck (Oppenheimer).

Producers include Alex Saks (No Hard Feelings, Book Club), Dori A. Rath (Pig), Keaton, Stephanie Heaton-Harris (Mack & Rita), and Tyler W. Konney (May December). Johnson served as exec producer, with Mariela Villa and Elayne Schmidt co-producing.

“We had a blast making Summer Camp, bringing a cast of legends to an actual summer camp just outside Asheville, NC, and the bonds they forged really show on screen,” Landon said. “The film is a fun and heartfelt ode to friendship, with amazing performances all around, and the chemistry between Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy is rom-com gold. I hope audiences enjoy the opportunity to see the film on the big screen, and that they leave the theatre inspired to reconnect with their childhood friends.”

Added Roadside Co-Presidents Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff, “Audiences will be overjoyed to share laughs around the campfire this spring with Diane, Kathy and Alfre in Castille Landon’s hilarious reunion pic. It’s clear this amazing group of women adored making this film, and their joy will spread to audiences when they see it.”

Other upcoming releases for Roadside Attractions include the action thriller Boy Kills World starring Bill Skarsgård; the human trafficking thriller City of Dreams; Karim Aïnouz’s Firebrand, starring Jude Law and Alicia Vikander; the Kate Winslet starrer Lee; and the family film, The Penguin and the Fisherman.

Cohen repped Roadside in the deal, with UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance repping the filmmakers.
