Roaches, ‘mold-like’ substance observed in Tarrant County health inspections. No closures
Roaches and mold-like substances were observed at two restaurants, but most received good scores in the latest Tarrant County health inspections, according to county data. There were no closures.
There were 179 inspections from Feb. 26 to March 4.
Tarrant County Public Health inspects and scores all restaurants in Tarrant County except for those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.
No restaurant received over 29 demerits. Restaurants receiving more than 29 demerits require a follow-up inspection. Chicken Express at 828 E. Northwest Highway in Haltom City was the only restaurant that had a follow-up inspection in this period.
Roaches were seen in the kitchen area of Farinas Winery located at 420 S. Main St. in Grapevine. The restaurant received 16 demerits.
Pappasitos Cantina at gate C19 at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport received three demerits and repeated a violation of a mold-like substance accumulating on sponges.
Smoothie King at 1316 W. Pipeline Road in Hurst received 19 demerits and repeated a violation of not having soap or paper towels at the hand sink in the kitchen. No dispensers for soap or paper towels were observed.
Primrose School of the Mid Cities at 500 Mid Cities Blvd. in Hurst received 10 demerits and repeated a violation of the hand wash sink failing to reach 100 degrees. This has been a violation since at least 2020, according to inspection data.
Smoothie King and Primrose School of the Mid Cities were both given 48 hours to correct their violations.
