RNC kicks off with speeches from Kimberly Guilfoyle, Nikki Haley and Donald Trump Jr.
The 2020 Republican National Convention kicked off Monday, with President Trump formally accepting the GOP presidential nomination to open the four-day event. Eschewing political norms, Trump appeared live and is expected to speak in primetime each night. Other speakers on night one included former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the couple who pointed guns at Black Lives Matter protesters in front of their St. Louis home. Sen. Tim Scott, the most prominent Black Republican in the country, closed out the first night of the convention by accusing Democrats of wanting to impose a “socialist utopia” on the country.
