RJ Forrester Is Paying for the Sins of His Father on Bold and the Beautiful

If he hasn’t been up until now, The Bold and the Beautiful character RJ Forrester just might be a believer in that whole “sons paying for the sins of the father” expression. Sure, Zende and Luna didn’t set out to hurt him but he got hurt anyway. Just like Ridge, RJ’s dad, hurt his brother Thorne when he was wed to Caroline.

Pranks and Pills

Luna (Lisa Yamada) inadvertently popped a few of her mom Poppy’s (Romy Park) happy pills at a family gathering, thinking the pills were merely breath mints. They actually contained a drug that robbed Luna of her faculties. She wound up in Zende’s bed. An unknowing Zende (Delon de Metz) thought Luna was there of her own volition and the two made love.

The fact that nobody meant harm isn’t sitting well with RJ (Joshua Hoffman). How could it? Similarly, years ago, Thorne, RJ’s uncle, didn’t take kindly to finding out that Ridge (then, Ronn Moss) slipped into his and his wife Caroline’s (Joanna Johnson) bed as a “prank” while Thorne (then, Clayton Norcross) was downstairs in the kitchen making himself a late-night snack.

Ridge’s “brainstorm” was to have Caroline realize Ridge was in bed with him — not her husband — and then, she’d order him out! However, Ridge didn’t predict how it all went down. Caroline was under the influence of alcohol just as Luna was affected by her mom’s pills. Caroline ended up making love to Ridge. By the time things advanced too quickly, Ridge didn’t think to put on the brakes. He also wondered if Caroline thought she was in bed with Thorne — or his brother?

The fallout was horrific. Thorne overheard Eric (John McCook) and Stephanie (Susan Flannery), his parents, recount Ridge’s familial faux pas. He took a sedative and got drunk. Then, Thorne got a hold of his mother’s handgun and shot Ridge in the head!

Ridge recovered. He learned that Thorne had shot him, and the two brothers had it out in the Forrester living room with Stephanie playing referee. Now, Ridge’s son, RJ, is in the position of knowing the woman he loved had sex with another man, a relative no less.

Time will tell if RJ’s romance with Luna will survive this — not to mention RJ and Zende’s bond. One thing’s for sure — when Ridge weighs in with potential criticism, he should do so with an understanding that sometimes pills — and pranks — go awry.
