RJ Cyler Cast In ‘Sierra Burgess Is A Loser’; Annika Marks Boards ‘The Last Champion’

Me And Earl and The Dying Girl actor RJ Cyler has joined Ben Hardy as a topliner in the modern retelling of the Cyrano de Bergerac film, Sierra Burgess Is A Loser. Ian Samuels is directing from a screenplay by Lindsey Beer. The pic centers on a case of mistaken identity that results in unexpected romance when the most popular girl in high school and the biggest loser must come together to win over their crushes. Cyler will play Dan, Sierra’s best friend but can’t work up the courage to tell her that he has a huge crush on her. Black Label Media’s Molly Smith, Rachel Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill are producing. Up next for the young actor is Saban’s Power Rangers film, which has its theatrical bow in March, as well as Showtime’s series I’m Dying Up Here and the Netflix Brad Pitt-starring film War Machine. Cyler is repped by JLA Talent Agency, Landis-Simon Productions & Talent Management and Felker, Toczek, Suddleson and Abramson.

Annika Marks is attached to star in the indie pic The Last Champion opposite Cole Hauser and directed by Glenn Withrow. Marks will play Elizabeth Barnes, a school nurse and childhood friend of John Wright (Hauser). After college, she returns to live with her widowed father (Bob McCracken). When John returns, Elizabeth struggles between her long-time unresolved feelings for him and her disappointment in how he has changed over the years. Marks is currently recurring on the Amazon series The Last Tycoon and the Freeform’s The Fosters. She is repped by TalentWorks and LINK Entertainment.
