‘Riverdale’ star Mark Consuelos: Moments that made us adore him most

Mark Consuelos is handsome and smooth as hell on Riverdale. But way before his role as Veronica’s devilish dad, the Latino heartthrob was heating up the screen as Kelly Ripa’s love interest on All My Children. That was way back in 1995. The gorgeous couple tied the knot in 1996, when he was 25 and she was 26, and are still very much in L-O-V-E. Check their Instagram PDA for all the proof you need. “The truth is, I'm crazy about my wife. Twenty-two years later, I'm supercrazy about my wife,” Consuelos told GQ magazine. Featured regularly on their parents’ social media pages are the couple’s three children. Eldest Michael, Mark’s undisputed mini-me, will play a younger version of his dad’s character, Hiram Lodge, in Season 3 of Riverdale. On Instagram, Ripa joked that she and Consuelos were entitled to some of his future earnings. Riverdale recently received nine Teen Choice Awards, including a win for Consuelos as Choice TV Villain. “To work this much on a show and to have some validation that it's working and people love you, they love to hate you — and my character. It's been cool,” he said. Born in Spain to a Mexican father and an Italian mother, Consuelos is especially proud that Riverdale honors the Lodge family’s Latino heritage. “I'm playing these normalized roles, Latinos that are high-level people, and I'm proud of that. I'm glad, thank God, that I've been given the opportunity to do that. I still think there's a lot of room for growth.”
