Rita Moreno can’t contain excitement about new role on 'West Side Story' remake: 'At f***ing last'

Legendary actress Rita Moreno could barely contain her excitement on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Tuesday, when speaking about Steven Spielberg’s upcoming remake of West Side Story. Moreno appeared in the 1961 original film, for which she won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Anita. Moreno will appear in the new version in a role created specially for her, but it’s her role as executive producer on the film that really got her excited.

“What does this full-circle mean to you?” Colbert asked. “Seriously, to be an Oscar-winning performer in the original, but now to executive produce. What does it mean to you to now be in one of the driver's seats for this cultural event?” Moreno thought for a moment, then replied with attitude, “At f***ing last.”

It was clear Moreno wasn’t too concerned with the CBS censors. After getting up and dancing while the audience applauded her, Moreno sat back down and said, “I know I will get beeped, but, you know, I don’t give a s**t.”

STEPHEN COLBERT: To be an Oscar winning performer in the original, but now to executive produce, what does it mean to now be in one of the driver's seats for this cultural event?

RITA MORENO: At [BLEEP] last.

KYLIE MAR: In fact, Moreno was so excited that she couldn't care less about CBS censors.

RITA MORENO: I know I will get bleeped. But you know, I don't give a [BLEEP].

KYLIE MAR: And the film's release in December comes at a very special time for Moreno.

RITA MORENO: December 11, I will be 90. I'm 89 now. And the film actually opens on December 10. I am beside myself. I'm so proud.
