The Hollywood icon appeared on Monday's episode of 'The View' to promote her upcoming film 'The Prank'

Rita Moreno used the rotten treatment she received in her early days in Hollywood to craft her latest performance.

The 92-year-old Oscar-winner appeared on Monday's episode of The View to discuss her upcoming film, The Prank. In the dark comedy, Moreno plays the ultimate mean teacher, whose students attempt to get back at her by pulling off a prank that leads to more drama than they ever could have imagined.

It turns out, Moreno didn't have to look too far when it came time to step into her character's mean-spirited shoes. "I just thought, how am I going to play this terrible person? And I thought of all the women in my life — particularly in show business — who'd really been awful to me. All of these bitches," the EGOT winner explained.

She continued, "I thought, I'm going to use all of the things that they did with me and my little Puerto Rican past, and that's what I do," Moreno continued. "Boy was that fun!'

Fellow EGOT and The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg chimed in, "One of the greatest things about Rita Moreno is whatever they did to her, she did not do to others."

The Prank stars Moreno as a "stern, mean and cruel physics teacher" named Mrs. Wheeler, who two of her students attempt to frame for murder, according to the synopsis.

The rest of the cast is rounded out by Connor Kalopsis (Outmatched) as Ben, Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever) as Tanner, Keith David, Kate Flannery and Meredith Salenger. Per the synopsis. "Ben is your typical high-school overachiever. He’s organized, careful, goal-oriented and extremely dedicated to school. His best friend, Tanner, couldn’t be more opposite. She is a lackadaisical, messy slacker, who lives in the moment. They aren’t popular, but they don’t seem to care that much because they have each other.”

However, when Mrs. Wheeler threatens to fail the entire class when one student cheats, Ben and Tanner decide to destroy their teacher on social media by accusing her of murder.
