Rising country singer Cooper Alan will headline this year's Muskingum County Fair

ZANESVILLE − Headlining this year's Muskingum County Fair will be Cooper Alan. Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday.

With his warm baritone voice and country-pop smarts, Alan made a rapid rise to success in 2020 with songs like "New Normal" and "Climate Change," according to his biography. The North Carolinian struck a chord, particularly among the social media set who helped songs like 2021's "Tough Ones" become a hit. His sound grew increasingly modern on songs like 2023's heavy "This Ain't Country" and the electronics-laced "To the Bar."

Cooper Alan will headline this year's Muskingum County Fair with special guest Thomas Mac opening the show at 8 p.m. Aug. 15. Tickets for the concert go on sale Saturday.

A native of Winston-Salem, Alan attended University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill while gigging with his band on the side. After graduation, he headed to Nashville, where he connected with producer and songwriter Victoria Shaw, who offered him a publishing deal. He made his debut in 2019 with "Climate Change," a track comparing global warming to the cooling conditions of a relationship. Audiences took notice and streamed the song into the millions. 2020 releases like "Warm Beer" and "Pink Umbrella Drinks" received modest attention, but Alan struck gold again with "New Normal," which topped streaming charts and went viral on social media platforms. Forgoing albums or EPs, the singer kept up a steady schedule of singles that included 2021's "Tough Ones," which reached number 23 on Billboard's Hot Digital Singles chart, and 2022's "First Rodeo."
