Riley Keough is going to the dark side — of hair color that is.

On Thursday, the Daisy Jones & the Six actress, 34, debuted sleek new black hair on her Instagram Story — a rare change for the actress who has often sported brown locks and even had blonde hair at one point in the past.

Keough shared her updated look during an appearance at the Virginia Film Festival, teaming her new hairstyle with a black and white striped top by Chanel and tagging both the fashion house and the event in her post.

The actress attended the film festival for her new film War Pony, which per IMDB, is about two young Oglala Lakota men growing up on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Keogh, who co-directed the movie alongside Gina Gammell, shared a separate Instagram Story post that showed her talking on stage at during a screening of the movie at the festival.

The star — who is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and is also iconic singer Elvis Presley's eldest grandchild — has gone through multiple hair transformations over the years, most recently sporting red hair to play lead rocker Daisy Jones in the Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & the Six. Television and film hairdresser Maryann Hennings detailed the work that went into the actress' dramatic hair change to PEOPLE in March.

"Color was very important in this particular project because of Daisy Jones. I needed something that gave her that confidence because she just mows them over,” Hennings said.

"We made Riley this bright red. She's normally dark haired, so I lightened it, put this bright red on it and then put a gloss over it that just made the whole thing shine,” she continued.

“And with her curls, that color made her the rock star. I felt like the wardrobe, that color and that long hair just took her to a new level."

The actress and director also recently sat down with Vanity Fair to chat about the highs and lows throughout her time in Hollywood, including her runway debut at age 14 when she had dirty blonde hair.

"This is really sweet," Keough told the outlet when shown a picture of herself walking for Dolce & Gabbana at the 2004 Milan Fashion Week. "This was also really cringe."

"I remember I was very nervous, and I remember they were playing like, I think it was "Cream" by Prince. It was a big moment for my 14-year-old self," she explained.

"My whole life was pretty public, but I think this probably felt like the first time that I was, like, doing something alone, as opposed to a family thing."

Keough also noted that she loves “fashion” and “clothes,” while being shown a photo of herself from this year's annual 'Vanity Fair' Oscar Party.

"I love getting to work with my hair and makeup team 'cause they're so wonderful and creative, but they're also friends. And so it's a very fun experience 'cause you're kinda getting to hang out with your friends and then you're going out for the night.
