Is Rihanna's Hair Getting Blonder By the Minute, or What?

Rihanna may have told Allure that she was moving away from her blonde hair just a few short weeks ago, saying that she gets bored easily and needs to “move on to something or I'm going to crawl out of my body,” but it looks like her blonde era isn't quite over.

Save for a brief foray into hot pink, RiRi has been experimenting with all tones of the blonde rainbow, starting with a deep honey hue in late 2023 and going lighter and brighter from there, courtesy colorist Carlos Jamieson. While out and about in New York City over Mother's Day weekend, the Fenty Beauty founder was spotted in one of her lightest shades yet.

On May 9, the mom of two was snapped in an all-black ensemble that made her pale beige blonde hair really pop. It's not quite platinum, but it's significantly lighter than the golden hour shade she wore to launch Fenty's new foundation, Soft'lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation. She wore the baby blonde hair styled long and straight and tucked under her hoodie for a casual, low-key vibe.

All of Rihanna's blonde iterations have been gorgeous, but this one might just be my favorite; not only do I want to copy the color, I also want to replicate this outfit head-to-toe come fall. Sure, Rih said she doesn't like to wear a certain look for long, but we're glad the blonde has stuck around as long as it has.

Rihanna kept the rest of her look simple and chic, with bright red nails and a lined taupe-y nude lip, plus oval-shaped sunglasses to protect her eyes from the camera flash. A few days later, she and her partner A$AP Rocky enjoyed a Mother's Day movie date, where she swapped the nude lip in favor of a vibrant scarlet with a slightly darker liner to match her Comme des Garcons dress. (Oh, and they also celebrated baby RZA's second birthday!) We may not have gotten to see her at the 2024 Met Gala, but we'll take what we can get from Mother Rihanna.
