Rihanna Totally Nails Oversize Suiting in This Stone-Colored Set

Recently, we’ve been seeing the rise of the oversize across the industry, from sleeves that completely cover your hands at Loewe to clothes so large at the Marc Jacobs Fall ’24 show, they made the models look like paper dolls. Now, Rihanna has totally nailed the oversize trend with her latest look, which offers a lesson in how to do things big and bold.

For the launch of new Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty shoes in “earth tones,” the pop superstar wore a baggy suit from the Peter Do Fall/Winter ’24 collection. The ensemble included a stone-colored extra-wide coat with tubelike sleeves that hit right at Rihanna’s knuckles, allowing her bright red nails to pop.

Under the jacket, the Fenty founder donned a slightly darker button-up in a wet sand color—a taupe tone that continued with her slacks and sneakers down low. The wide-leg pants pooled around the singer and beauty mogul’s chunky sneakers (from her Fenty x Puma collection, of course), and the continuation of color added a pleasant dynamic to the overall silhouette.

For accessories, the “Work” singer added stacks of gold chains around her neck, and donned a pair of cheetah-print wrapped shades with orange lenses. Oh, she also debuted choppy bangs with the look, leaving her blonde locks hanging down for the red carpet.

While it easily could’ve looked like RiRi was getting swallowed up by this ensemble, the tailoring was strongly executed. The jacket had a slight taper to the sides that allowed it to subtly hug Rihanna’s torso instead of billowing. Meanwhile, the more breathable fabric of the shirt and slacks underneath brought some motion to the look, so the fit didn’t seem so stiff. It wasn’t giving “kid trying on their dad’s suit,” but rather, “style icon takes an everyday staple and totally disrupts it, making it her own.” We’d expect nothing less from Rihanna.
