Rihanna was spotted walking through New York City on Thursday in a pair of sleek black slingback heels.
Often photographed wearing a variety of footwear styles, the “Work” singer has stepped out in elevated pairs of designer boots, heels and even sneakers. In fact, Rihanna was most recently seen in a pair of Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty sneakers at the brand’s collaborative launch party in April of this year. The earth-tone shoe is a reimagined version of the classic Puma Suede with a ridged platform sole.
Rihanna, the founder of fan-favorite makeup line Fenty Beauty, has just announced the release of the brand’s newest Soft’lit Foundation. Additionally, in recent interviews, the singer has hinted at the prospect of a new album release in the near future.
About the Shoes
The star’s sleek black shoes, crafted from a glossy Patent leather, feature a pointed-toe silhouette, straight-edge vamp, slingback strap and an estimated 1.5-inch kitten heel. Additionally, Rihanna’s choice of footwear seems to be adorned with a row of small rectangular crystals along the shoe’s outer edge.
A number of celebrities have been photographed in similar pairs of slingback heels as they attend fashion shows, red-carpet premieres and even exclusive invitation-only events. Most recently, Lily-Rose Depp attended Chanel’s cruise 20204 presentation in Marseille, France while donning a pair of the brand’s classic black slingbacks. The leather cap-toe shoes featured an estimated .5-inch slingback strap and the brand’s iconized interlocking “C” logo on the 3.5-inch blocked heel.
Slingbacks: A Designer Staple
The slingback heel, known for its enduring popularity, consistently features in contemporary designer collections due to its versatility and comfort. Designers such as Tom Ford, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent continue to reimagine this classic silhouette in multiple colorways, employing diverse materials and incorporating current trends in accents and details.
