Rihanna joined the many women — celebrities and non-celebs alike — in weighing in on the news that Alabama has enacted the strictest law in the country on abortion, making it illegal even in the cases of rape and incest.
She noted, as many did on social media, that male lawmakers were the ones who passed the legislation, but her strongest words were for a woman, Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, who signed the bill into law.
“Take a look. these are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America,” the singer, actress and Fenty Beauty founder wrote. “Governor Kay Ivey...SHAME ON YOU!!!!”
Tyrese praised the outspoken Grammy winner for “posting about REAL s***!!!!!!!!!!”
Winnie Harlow, Lewis Hamilton, La La Anthony and many others supported Rihanna in the comments.
The “Love on the Brain” star’s words followed country singer Kacey Musgraves’s jab at the new law. “Sooo what’s gonna happen when one of those Alabama senators knocks up one of his mistresses?” Musgraves wrote.
Meanwhile, a growing list of people are sharing personal stories about having had an abortion themselves.
