Rihanna Revealed a ‘Really Cool’ Side Effect of Being a Boy Mom to Sons RZA & Riot

“It’s a boy!” the ultrasound technician said, for the third time. I was pregnant with my third son, and this time, I knew what to expect as a boy mom — tons of love, laughter, and all-around lightness in my life. Yes, I wanted a daughter. In fact, I thought I’d have all girls! But life had other plans, and although living with my husband and three boys was not what I would have ever thought would happen, it’s better than any life I could have ever imagined. Rihanna shared a similar sentiment in an interview with E! News that all moms of boys can relate to.

“It makes me feel really cool to be a boy mom,” the “Diamonds” singer said. She is mom to sons RZA, 23 months, and Riot, 8 months, with A$AP Rocky. “I get to be as casual and busted as I want to, but it also forces me to embrace the epic things about being a woman and female and all my femininity — I embrace it so much more now.”

I love that! Being the only female in a house of male means you are treated as the queen! My boys buy my flowers, tell me I’m beautiful, give me the sweetest snuggles. Not that daughters couldn’t do that, but it’s a unique experience to lean into your femininity as the only woman in the house that’s hard to explain if you haven’t felt it.

The Fenty Beauty founder also shared that her sons give her life new meaning. “They bring purpose to every aspect of my life,” she told the outlet. “Everything has to be intentional, and everything has to be worth it — especially when it takes me away from them.”

She opened up about dressing her sons in an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this month. “When I dress them, I always try to dress them like Rocky,” she told the outlet. “Because I always envision dressing a girl, right? We all do as women, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to dress her in these cute little things,’ but then you get sons and you’re like, ‘What do I do?’ and I was like, ‘You know what, I have the biggest hack — their dad.’”

It makes sense. You love their dad, so why not dress your little boys to match him? Seeing Rihanna totally embrace her boy mom status makes me love her all the more!
