Adele wrote about Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson wrote about Cardi, and Cyndi Lauper wrote about Kesha

TIME magazine has revealed its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Among the notable musicians on this year’s TIME 100 are Rihanna, Cardi B, and Kesha. Rihanna entered the list as an Icon. Her blurb was written by Adele. “I actually can’t remember the first time I met Rihanna; I was probably numb from the shock of it,” Adele begins. “She makes her own rules and bends ours.”

Taraji P. Henson did the writeup for Cardi, named as a Pioneer. “The first time I went on her Instagram page, she was so raw, coming at you, like, whoa!” Henson continued, “She used words like ‘shmoney’ and ‘shmoves,’ and she talked openly about being a former stripper.” She closed the blurb, “Cardi B’s here to stay, baby, and I’m happy to be a witness.”

Kesha was also named an Icon. Cyndi Lauper wrote about her: “Thanks to Kesha and other women who have stood up for themselves to demand justice and fairness, we are starting to turn a new page. It took far too long for us to come to this cultural moment, and we’ve got a really long way to go, but thanks to people like Kesha, we’re finally starting to make progress.”

Also included on the 2018 TIME 100 are Tiffany Haddish (Pioneer, written about by Kevin Hart), Issa Rae (Pioineer, written by Mindy Kaling), Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman (Icon, with a blurb from Sean “Diddy” Combs), Shawn Mendes (Artist, blurbed by John Mayer), Kanye West collaborator Virgil Abloh (Icon, with a writeup from Takashi Murakami), “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown (Artist, written by Aaron Paul), and Jennifer Lopez (Icon, writing by Kerry Washington).
