Are you looking to avoid massive traffic jams on your way to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers in the World Series at Chase Field in Phoenix this week? Riding the Valley Metro light rail may be your best bet.

Nothing is more stressful than sitting in standstill traffic while in search of the perfect parking spot. Not to mention having to leave the afterparties early so you don't get too toasted to drive.

Downtown Phoenix rail stops for World Series games at Chase Field

There are several light-rail stop options for the World Series games depending on what your before and after plans are.

According to the Valley Metro website, pick up and drop off locations include the following:

  • Van Buren/1st Avenue

  • Jefferson/1st Avenue

  • 3rd Street/Washington

  • 3rd Street/Jefferson (This stop is right outside Chase Field.)

  • 12th Street/Jefferson

  • 12th Street/Washington

  • 3rd Street/Washington

  • Washington/Central Avenue

  • Van Buren/Central Avenue

If you want to avoid paying for expensive parking downtown, you can park at one of the 12 park-and-rides that connect to light rail.

The park-and-rides are free to use and monitored by security cameras and personnel. You are not allowed to park for longer than 24 hours.

What hours does the Phoenix light rail run?

According to the Valley Metro website, the light rail begins at 4:40 a.m. Mondays through Saturdays at the end-of-line stations. The last full trip of the day begins at 11 p.m., arriving at the opposite end of the line after midnight.

Trains arrive every 15 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and every 20 minutes during the other hours of operation.

During game hours there will be three-car trains in service to allow for greater capacity.

How do I buy Valley Metro light rail tickets?

You have a couple of options. You can purchase your fare through the Valley Metro app available in the Google Play and Apple app stores or you can buy passes at fare vending machines at the light rail stations.

A one-day pass for adults is $4 and a one-day pass for ages 17 and under and 65 and older is $2.

How do I get to Chase Field from the Phoenix airport?

If you're flying in for the game, you can go directly from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Chase Field via the PHX Sky Train and Valley Metro light rail.

Take the Sky Train from Terminal 3 or Terminal 4 at the airport to the 44th Street/Washington light rail station, then take a westbound light rail train to downtown Phoenix.

The stop for Chase Field is 3rd Street/Washington.
