Ricky Martin Cast in FX’s ‘Versace: American Crime Story’

Ricky Martin has joined the cast of FX’s “Versace: American Crime Story.” Martin will play Antonio D’Amico, the partner of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

“Versace” is the planned third installment of executive producer Ryan Murphy’s “American Crime Story.” The series is executive produced by Murphy, Nina Jacobson, and Brad Simpson, and is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

Set to begin production later this month and premiere in 2018, “Versace” tells the story of the fashion designer’s murder. Martin joins a cast that includes Édgar Rarmirez as Versace, Penélope Cruz as his sister Donatella and Darren Criss as serial killer Andrew Cunanan. The miniseries follows last year’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” and the upcoming “Katrina: American Crime Story,” which will be set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

A Grammy-winning musician, Martin guest starred on Murphy’s Fox series “Glee” and appeared on Broadway in “Evita” and “Les Miserables.” He is currently in residency at the Park Theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. His most recent studio album, “A Quien Quiera Escuchar,” won the best Latin pop album award at the 2016 Grammys. Martin is represented by CAA, managed by Rebecca Drucker and Jose Vega and attorney Garret Glass.
