Rick Ross and 2 Chainz to Compete in Next Verzuz Battle
Rick Ross and 2 Chainz are the latest artists to be announced for Verzuz, the “beat battle” series started by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland that has since partnered with Apple Music. Their showdown is set to take place on Thursday, August 6 at 8 p.m. Eastern over on the Verzuz Instagram account. (The show will be simulcast on Apple Music and archived on the streaming platform to view once it’s over.)
The Verzuz and Apple Music partnership was announced earlier this month with with a face-off between Snoop Dogg and DMX. Past matchups have included Boi-1da vs. Hit-Boy, Fabolous vs. Jadakiss, T-Pain vs. Lil Jon, and Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott, among others.
Rick Ross recently made an appearance on Freddie Gibbs and Alchemist’s collaborative album Alfredo. 2 Chainz’s latest studio album Rap or Go to the League was released in 2019. The two were set to tour together this spring before those plans were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
