Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra to lead Russo brothers multi-series Citadel for Amazon

Joe and Anthony Russo have tapped Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden to lead Citadel, their new “multi-layered global series” for Amazon Prime Video. The news was announced Tuesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The Quantico actress and the Game of Thrones actor will star in the “U.S. ‘mothership’ edition” of the spy series, which will also feature interconnected local-language productions from India, Italy, and Mexico (the latter installment being newly announced).

Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg will serve as writers and executive producers of Citadel, with Patrick Moran, Mike Larocca, and the Russos on board as as executive producers.

Amazon also announced that it has greenlit a Jack Reacher TV series, based on the character from the Lee Child novels, with a script-to-series deal. Child will serve as executive producer of the drama.

Scorpion’s Nick Santora is set to write, executive-produce, and serve as showrunner of the drama. Christopher McQuarrie, who worked on two Jack Reacher films starring Tom Cruise, will serve as an executive producer on the series.

Child mentioned in an interview last year that the Reacher role would be played by a newcomer, saying Cruise was too short for the character. The TV series was first announced in July.
