Richard Lewis reveals he has Parkinson's disease, underwent several surgeries: 'A rocky time'

Richard Lewis has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

The comedian and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star, 75, shared a health update in a video posted to his Twitter Sunday, saying that he was diagnosed with the neurological disease and has also undergone multiple surgeries for other issues over the last three-and-a-half years."

“I’ve had sort of a rocky time,” he said. "Here's really what happened."

Lewis said he's undergone back surgery, shoulder surgery, shoulder replacement surgery and hip replacement surgery.

Lewis said his health took a turn shortly after wrapping a recent season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Lewis has played a semi-autobiographical version of himself on the show since 2000.

"I had four surgeries, back to back to back. It was incredible... It was bad luck, but it's life," he said.

Two years ago, Lewis said he also began "walking a little stiffly" and shuffling his feet, resulting in a brain scan from a neurologist that lead to his Parkinson's diagnosis.

"But luckily, I got it late in life, and they say you progress very slowly if at all, and I’m on the right meds, so I’m cool,” he added.

Lewis said that he's "finished with stand-up" and is "just focusing on writing and acting."

Lewis’ big screen credits include “Robin Hood: Men in Tights,” “Leaving Las Vegas” and “Vamps,” and has television credits including “7th Heaven,” “George Lopez,” “BoJack Horseman” and “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist.”

Lewis is set to appear in "The Ogilvy Fortune," a Chevy Chase project currently in pre-production per IMDb.
