The upcoming episode of Rich & Shameless, titled Basketball Murder For Money, will unveil all the terrifying details about the case. Wright went missing on July 18, 2010. Four days later, Wright’s mother filed a missing complaint, prompting the authorities to initiate an investigation. After days of searching, search teams found Wright’s skeletal remains in a wooded area near a golf course in Memphis, Tennessee. The autopsy report revealed that the local basketball icon had been shot twice in the head, twice near his heart, and once in his forearm.

As the investigation moved ahead, authorities soon found a suspect. Without any guess, the police named his ex-wife, Sherra Wright, as the prime suspect in the murder case. But what happened after that? Were there any more suspects?

Lorenzen Wright’s Death: Who were the suspects involved in his murder?

Seven years later, on December 15, 2017, authorities arrested Sherra Wright at her home in Riverside, California. She faced extradition to Memphis, where authorities charged her on multiple counts, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

However, the case took a wild turn when prosecutors alleged that Sherra recruited Billy Ray Turner to kill her ex-husband, Lorenzen Wright. As the investigation progressed, it further revealed that Sherra also recruited her cousin Jimmie Martin for the assassination.

During Turner’s trial, prosecutors stated that Wright’s ex-wife, Sherra Wright, came up with a plan to kill Lorenzen Wright. Sherra Wright surprised everyone in July 2019 by entering a guilty plea to facilitation of murder and receiving a 30-year prison sentence. Meanwhile, in March 2022, the trial of Billy Ray Turner began, and prosecutors noted that Jimmie Martin struck a plea deal. Martin provided details about how Sherra instructed him and Turner to kill her ex-husband.

Prosecutors then went on to present more evidence in the Lorenzen Wright murder case. Eventually, the jury found Billy Ray Turner guilty, and the court gave him a life sentence. On the other hand, the court sentenced Turner to an additional 41 years behind bars for criminal attempted murder and conspiracy.
