Rich Paul is responding to rumors that he and Adele are married.

The Klutch Sports Group CEO, 41, told Gayle King during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Monday that the singer, 35, has “been great,” adding, “I think she would agree that we definitely helped each other.”

“We’re in a good space. Happy,” he continued. “She’s superb.”

“We’ve been great for each other,” Paul said, noting that he wasn’t getting into specifics because he’s “not the type of person” to put his personal life out in the open.

“It’s not for the media. It’s not for paparazzi. It’s for us,” he explained.

King then tried to subtly get at the rumors the couple is now married, asking Paul, “When I see her, should I say ‘Hi, Mrs. Paul?,’ ” to which he replied, “You can say whatever you want,” with a laugh.

Paul and Adele went public with their relationship in July 2021, when they seen courtside together during Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

A source confirmed to PEOPLE at the time that Adele had been dating Paul for "a few months."

But the marriage rumors started during Adele's Vegas residency last month, after she referred to Paul as her “husband” while conversing with a fan who asked the "Hello" singer to marry them.

“You can’t marry me. I’m straight, my love, and my husband’s here tonight,” Adele told a female audience member in a video posted on TikTok.

Married or not, Adele and Paul are enjoying life together. The sports agent exclusively told PEOPLE this week that he's "happy in all aspects of my life” while promoting his new book, Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds. “I’ve always been somebody that never allowed things to get to me.”

“I had built up this wall as a young kid,” he said, “to just have the understanding to move forward and know that she’s not going to be there. Like, Mom is not coming home,” he recalled, “was one of the toughest things for me to relive and write about.”

Paul said Adele — whom he has been with for over two years — felt deeply connected to his sentiment and childhood trauma. “It was very emotional," he said of her reaction to his book. “I think a lot of it probably hit home, so yeah, it was a difficult read [for her].”

Adele has shared her own difficult childhood experiences in the past. She grew up in London — moving between Tottenham and Brixton — and lost her grandfather to cancer when she was 10. Her late father, Mark Evans, was absent from her life for years, only to come back when the singer became famous.

“I went to go and see him in Wales and I wanted to play him ‘To Be Loved.’ My main goal in life is to be loved and love,” Adele told Oprah Winfrey in 2021, recalling the time she met up with her father before his death. “I wanted to go back to my dad and tell him, 'You’re the reason I haven’t done that yet.' He was the reason I didn’t fully access what it means to be in a loving, loving relationship with somebody.”
