Rian Johnson ‘Star Wars’ Photo Confirms Millennium Falcon Is Alive and Well

Han Solo may no longer be with us, but his scrap pile apparently still has an active role in the Star Wars movies.

In case there was any doubt, Rian Johnson, director of the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, recently shared a photo on Twitter and Tumblr of the film’s cinematographer, Steve Yedlin, standing next to what appears to be part of the Millennium Falcon. Obviously, crucial details about the follow-up to The Force Awakens are still being kept secret, but it seems fair to assume that Rey (Daisy Ridley) will appear onscreen, flying the Falcon proudly, in its former owner’s honor.

For those keeping score, Johnson notes that Episode VIII is already four weeks into its shooting schedule. Unfortunately, the filmmaker’s expediency won’t enable the rest of us to see the movie any sooner. Earlier this year, Disney pushed back its release date to December 2017, which means the wait to see more moving-picture versions of the Millennium Falcon will continue.
