Mary Cosby called Whitney Rose “racist” during the second part of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion. It marked the first time Mary has been on a reunion stage since Season 1. When host Andy Cohen greeted her and mentioned her absence during Season 2’s reunion taping, Mary clarified why she wasn’t present.

“First of all, how I was treated the entire season,” she said before saying she “didn’t feel comfortable” enough to attend. Throughout Season 2, Mary was attacked relentlessly by former cast member and alleged racist Jennie Nguyen.

In late 2023, a photo of current cast member Whitney posing with the disgraced ex-Housewife began circulating online. Mary responded, saying, “This tells me Whitney is racist too!” During the second part of the explosive three-part reunion, Mary confirmed her beliefs, adding she felt the “little girl” was “one hundred percent” racist.

One of Mary’s biggest criticisms this season from her co-stars and fans is that she’s not engaged enough. During an earlier episode, Mary explained why she doesn’t enjoy coming around to her friend Meredith Marks. She said she’s seen no growth from the cast.

Frustrated, Whitney responded on X, formerly Twitter. “I cannot sit and listen to this evil and mean woman talk about growth OMFG,” she said.

At the reunion, Whitney explained her post. “It’s hard because I feel like I personally put in so much work into myself. I spent thousands of dollars in therapy. I’ve been making a conscious effort to be a better person. So to see you talk about us that way [and] what you would say in your confessionals [hurt].”

“So you’re saying what you’re saying, cursing and tweeting me is growth?” Mary asked, to which Whitney said she wouldn’t have posted about her online if she didn’t post first.

“I didn’t tweet anything about you. I just said you were racist,” Mary said confidently. “You’re racist. Yeah.”

Of course, the rest of the ladies and Andy pretended to be shocked after hearing Mary’s statements. Her tweet calling Whitney racist was in response to her posing with her co-star who made light of George Floyd’s murder and the Black Lives Matter protests. For the rest of the ladies, including Whitney, to act so dense, is offensive. However, Mother Mary gave more context as to why she feels Whitney is racist.

“What they were brought up in, the religion,” Mary said, referring to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. “I believe they have their beliefs … that our color is cursed by the color of Cain and we will be in a different heaven, our skin color will be in a different heaven, and we’ll be the help.”

Bad Mormon author and cast member Heather Gay came to Mary’s defense. Heather went up against Lisa Barlow, who attempted to dismiss her lived experience despite being the only woman of color on the show. She added that the Mormon church is “rooted in racism.”

Whitney responded, “I just want Mary to know because that’s a big accusation to make, and I am no longer a member of the Mormon church, and that was part of my process.”

Whitney hasn’t done anything personally to Mary. She just has a feeling.

“It’s not anything you do or say; it’s your actions, it’s a feeling, and you have to be my color to know it,” she replied. “It’s not something anyone can teach you; it’s not anything anyone can tell you.”

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion continues on Tuesdays at 8/7c.
