'RHOC’s' Vicki Gunvalson Demands Respect!
"Real Housewives of Orange County" is the first installment from the Real Housewives franchise. The long-standing RHOC has had a lot of wives come in and out of the show, but the one constant has been Vicki Gunvalson. This is not the case anymore as first time ever since the beginning she has been demoted. She will not be on Season 14 full time. Apparently this led to issues at the reunion. Vicki has been on the show for so long she is like a Nene Leakes type in her franchise. it is surprising to hear she has been demoted. This is what she said about being demoted on Instagram. After watching her on the show, one can assume it is going to be dramatic.

She said, “For the past 14 years I’ve opened up my life, my loves, my ups and downs on The Real Housewives of Orange County and I am proud to be the ‘OG of the OC’. I am back again this season right in the middle of the action in a different role. I hope you have as much fun watching the show as I did living it in front of the cameras. Stay tuned to Bravo August 6th for more of the Tres Amigas”. Ok, this sounds pretty normal and decent. One could imagine she is seething though, especially being on the show for so long. Her new position is smaller and would technically be described as a “friend” instead of a “housewife.” Welp!
Upset About the Word
Of course, this is not her true feelings about the whole situation. On Entertainment Tonight, she said, “First of all, when they told me I was going to have a reduced role, I said, ‘I’m never a Friend. I started this franchise. I’m never going to be a Friend.’ They said, ‘We’ll never use those words.’ And they’ve been using those words. I will never come back part-time. I’m either all in or all out. I’m not a part-time girl”. This is the Vicki most people know. This is how Nene Leakes acted when she would only comeback to RHOA after not being on the show for one season if they would not increase her pay. The OGs normally feel more entitled to their roles.

The issue came when she was at the reunion and tried to make demands. Vicki demanded. “I asked for cameras to go down. I was very, very sad. Very emotional, very sad. I was told I was gonna stay the whole reunion and you’ll see what happens. I felt very disrespected and I don’t deserve that. I’m a cast member that created this franchise and I need to be respected. If they don’t want me, I’m fine … but don’t disrespect me”. She’s used to being the center of the franchise and now being demoted has hit her harder as her privilege is gone. She is just the friend, not one of the main housewives. These are the rights that come with being just a friend.
She is considering not coming back for another season.
