There’s trouble in Orange County, but Jennifer Pedranti and Ryan Boyajian are showing a united front. The newly engaged Real Housewives of Orange County stars aren’t going to let a little, ol’ federal investigation impede their happiness. At least, that’s the case right now.

If you missed it, ESPN reported that Ryan was implicated in a $15 million gambling and theft scandal. It involves the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani, an interpreter, and a massive amount of gambling debt. It’s complicated, so brace yourself.

A look into Ryan’s legal trouble

According to the outlet. Shohei had an interpreter named Ippei Mizuhara. Ippei engaged with an illegal bookmaker and reportedly wired money from the baseball player’s bank account to pay off illegal gambling debts. Allegedly, Ryan was the middleman working with the bookmaker who received the payments.

The court documents explained how the interpreter was told how he could pay off his debts by wiring money to “Associate 1,” AKA Ryan. From there, Ryan and the other “associates” would launder the money through various casinos. They would gamble with the money and then try to cash out any winnings.

The word on the street is that Ryan is working with the authorities and received immunity for his testimony. That might explain why he and Jennifer are so cool, calm, and collected on Instagram. They’re not worried about him going to jail.

Of course, this legal drama couldn’t have come at a worse time for the couple. They just announced their engagement a few weeks ago after Ryan got down on one knee during a vacation in the Bahamas. At the time, they were fantasizing about having a small, intimate ceremony on the beach. With Ryan caught up in a federal investigation, they’ll probably have to put their wedding plans on hold.
