Review: Guiseppe's Pizza in Jackson Township gets seal of approval
JACKSON TWP. − Guiseppe’s Pizza might be new to Stark County, but it has been in business for 60 years, with the original location still operating in Green.
Guiseppe’s fans will be happy to hear that the Stark location, at 5642 Wales Ave. NW, is serving the same menu as the original restaurant and offers dine-in service.
Choose from create-your-own pizzas in sizes from mini all the way to sheet size; plus several specialty pizzas, including a deluxe pie, meat lover’s pizza and Darlene’s Favorite featuring spicy red sauce, pepperoni, homemade sausage, light bacon, onion and banana peppers, among others; and even gluten-free, keto friendly and vegan pizzas.
The menu also features salads, Jojos, a meatball sub, cheesy garlic breadsticks, chips and dips and cheesecake plus drinks.
To get a good sample of what Guiseppe’s has to offer, I chose two different pizzas − one gluten free − and a large order of their cheesy garlic breadsticks.
The breadsticks come in two sizes: the four-piece mini ($3.50) or the 12-piece large ($6.50). The large size is clearly the better bang for your buck.
The bread sticks themselves are quite tasty and include a generous amount of red sauce for dipping. I enjoyed them with and without sauce, as the garlic flavor really popped on its own.
Guiseppe’s offers a nice selection gluten-free pizzas. As someone who isn’t used to eating gluten-free options, I wanted to try out one of these pizzas to get a sense of what they’re like. To keep it simple, I went for the traditional pepperoni and cheese ($13.50).
The crust is a definite departure from the standard variety. Using different ingredients, the crust doesn’t rise in the same manner you might be used to. I wasn’t quite sure how to feel at first bite, but this style of pizza grew on me as I ate. I also found the crust to be less greasy than usual pizza. It seems like it’d make a great option for those who are gluten-free and want to enjoy a pizza.
The menu mentions that "flour in the air prevents a guarantee of a purely gluten-free environment or a purely gluten-free product." Those who are highly sensitive should discuss the risks of cross contamination with their doctor before ordering.
The only downside to the gluten-free pizza is it is limited to medium size, making it a little tricky if you have a group of gluten-free eaters.
Next up was the Margherita Pizza ($13.50 for a medium), a culinary tribute to the Italian flag. It features Guiseppe’s traditional red sauce − a delicious, neutral sauce − red diced tomatoes, white garlic, white provolone cheese and green basil leaves. After cooking, it’s topped with a tasty homemade balsamic drizzle − easily my favorite part.

The only change I’d make is to add more tomatoes on top, even though there were plenty. They were especially delicious.
Overall, Guiseppe’s gets my seal of approval. I love a pizza shop that offers variety in specialty pizzas, doesn’t skimp on the toppings, offers online and phone orders, friendly service and, of course, delicious pizza. Guiseppe’s checks all the boxes.
Guiseppe’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Visit myguiseppes.com for more information.
