The Most Restrained Deaths on ‘Game of Thrones’

In six seasons of Game of Thrones, about 100 named characters have died, most of them in horrific, gruesome fashion. By comparison, Myrcella Baratheon’s death by poisoning in Season 5 seemed very tame. But in a recent interview at MCM London, Nell Tiger Free, the actress who portrayed Myrcella, said that wasn’t how the death was originally intended.

Only one of his three biological children -- Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen -- is still alive, and the only one of them he admitted his paternity to is dead. Blame it on poor role models all you want; the fact of the matter is he’s a lousy dad. (Credit: HBO)

“Originally, what happened is they gave me loads of mashed-up bananas with, like, blood, fake blood and my brains were supposed to be all over the ship and stuff,” Free said. She also explained that they changed the death from brain-splatter gore to simple blood running out of her nose because, “They wanted Myrcella’s death to reflect her life and wanted it to be sweet, which is rare for Thrones.”

So this got us thinking: What other deaths on Game of Thrones have been relatively restrained? We put together a list of the top five most restrained deaths on Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones returns Sunday, July 16, on HBO.
