1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop
Offering a sophisticated menu and scenic oceanfront views, 1912 Ocean Bar & Rooftop opened June 27 at the Cabana Beach Club of Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach. The first rooftop restaurant in Ponte Vedra, it focuses on fresh seafood, hand-cut beef filet and small-bite offerings accentuated by craft cocktails as well as fine wines and craft beers. | Read more
1928 Cuban Bistro
Known for its authentic family recipes, Jacksonville-based 1928 Cuban Bistro opened its newest restaurant in January at 1500 Beach Blvd. Unit 218 in Jacksonville Beach. The restaurant, the fourth from founder and owner Rebecca Gonzalez, offers a menu showcasing family recipes for several signature entrees plus its traditional Cuban and Medianoche sandwiches. | Read more
7 Brew Coffee
Arkansas-based 7 Brew Coffee plans at least three area locations — two in Jacksonville and a third in Neptune Beach, city and state public records show. The double-lane, drive-thrus are planned for Gerona Drive East at Beach Boulevard as well as Normandy Boulevard at Normandy Village Parkway and at 1223 Atlantic Blvd. in Neptune Beach. The Jacksonville-area stores would be among a major expansion throughout Florida by the company. | Read more
AB Kitchen
Brothers who've worked their way up in the restaurant business in Northeast Florida have launched their own restaurant inspired by their passion for the coastal cuisine they grew to love as competitive surfers. Opened in January, AB Kitchen at 299 Atlantic Blvd. in Atlantic Beach is "a culinary destination with innovative cuisine focused on healthy eating for an active lifestyle." The concept is fusion-type cuisine catering to a healthy lifestyle and favored by surfers such as the brothers. They also wanted a neighborhood bistro with a fun, up-tempo vibe. Their family has seven restaurants ranging from fine dining Marker 32 to barbecues and fish camps. | Read more
Abstrakt Filipino Essence
A contemporary Filipino restaurant that evolved from a popular food truck, Abstrakt Filipino Essence opened as a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Feb. 27 at 1500 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach. Chef and owner Jojo Hernandez, who was born in the Philippines, focuses on classic and innovative Filipino fare. Topping the menu are appetizers, including lumpia and street food fish balls. Popular entrees range from Chicken Pancit to Seared Salmon Ginataan and Crispy Pork Belly Adobo. Desserts include Ube cheesecake and Halo Halong Himagas. | Read more
Argyle
Argyle, a new upscale restaurant offering contemporary American cuisine focused on fresh Florida ingredients opened at 254 Alta Mar Drive, at The Yards in Sawgrass at Ponte Vedra Beach. The chef-driven restaurant features a rotating selection of seasonal-based dishes as well as year-round classics served amid a casual California coastal-style decor and ambiance. Crabcake Factory Seafood Grille & Bar
Nearly a dozen years after closing, a Jacksonville-area restaurant known for its signature Chesapeake Bay jumbo lump crab cakes and super Sunday brunch announced it would welcome guests back to its tables. Executive Chef and owner Kahn Vongdara, who opened Crabcake Factory Seafood Grille & Bar in 2007 and then led its kitchen until the restaurant closed in 2012, revived the popular Jacksonville Beach restaurant at its longtime location — 1396 Beach Blvd. at Penman Road — in late January. | Read more

Crumbl Cookies, the nationwide gourmet cookie and ice cream shop popular on TikTok, is expanding its footprint in the Jacksonville area, including a new location planned for 572 Marsh Landing Parkway at South Beach Parkway shopping center in Jacksonville Beach. | Read more
Dick Mondell's Burgers & Fries
Gainesville-based Dick Mondell's Burger & Fries plans to open its second Florida restaurant at 1177 Third St. S. in Jacksonville Beach. The menu focuses on locally sourced, sustainable and fresh ingredients. It will serve beef and chicken burgers, salads and sides in their home kitchens. About half of their offerings are vegan-or vegetarian. | Read more
El Agave Azul
Known for its traditional birria, award-winning tacos and other classic Mexican street fare, El Agave Azul opened in February at 220 Third St. in Neptune Beach. The restaurant is the third brick-and-mortar location for co-owners Zergihno “Sergio” García and Rolando Mora, who debuted their concept as a food truck in 2015 and their first restaurant, in Orange Park, in 2019, and a second, in Baymeadows, a year later. Birria, a fork-tender, slow-cooked stewed meat — typically beef or goat — is available in the restaurant's tacos, quesadilla and pizza. | Read more
Island Donuts
Known for its as-big-as-your-hand Island Fritter, Boston Cream, Maple Bacon and more, Island Donuts opened in March at 363 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 6-7 in Atlantic Beach. It is the second location of the locally-owned, gourmet doughnut shop founded in St. Augustine Beach in 2020. The Atlantic Beach shop features about 30 flavors of doughnuts — both cake and yeast. The daily selection typically numbers from 12 to 15 flavors. | Read more
Jekyll Brewing
The Metro Atlanta restaurant/microbrewery known for its 24 craft beers on tap debuted in May in Jacksonville Beach at Jax Beach Town Center, 131 1st Ave. N. Known for its innovative pub grub, Jekyll Brewing boasts a renovated Airstream travel trailer as a bar on the second floor. The Jacksonville Beach location is the first in Florida for the Alpharetta, Ga.-based brewpub. | Read more
Le Petit Paris
An authentic taste of France is on the menu as the third Le Petit Paris cafe opened June 30 at 7111 Bentley Road off JTB near Interstate 95 in Southpoint. The cafe is known for its made freshly made quiche, tartines and other pastries, salads, baguettes and croissant sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and more. Coffee, espresso and tea are among the top beverages. The new restaurant joins Le Petit locations at 9965 San Jose Blvd., Suite 46 and 363 Atlantic Blvd. Suite 14 in Atlantic Beach. | Read more
Lone Wolf Co.
Lone Wolf Co. strives to show sandwiches are anything thing but ordinary. The new sandwich shop, which opened in February, at 1500 Beach Blvd. No. 115 in Jacksonville Beach also pays homage to founder, owner and chef Brett Forgich's love of classic punk rock with signature sandwiches (made with bread from the French Pantry) named Live Fast Die Young, Donnie Brasco, Blitzkrieg Bop and others. Mayday Ice Cream
Locally owned and operated, Mayday Ice Cream opened its seventh and eighth Northeast Florida gourmet dessert shops in Northeast Florida. Opening July 10 was the ice cream parlor at 2400 Third St. S., Unit 202 in Jacksonville Beach. Then on July 29, another Mayday Ice Cream shop opened at 4853 Big Island Drive No. 3 near St. Johns Town Center. There, the restaurant will share space with DOS Coffee & Wine, which expects to open soon. Mayday offers a variety of classic and innovative handcrafted ice cream flavors, including customer favorites Queen Salted Caramel, Blueberry Toast Crunch, Cookie Crush, Coffee + Donuts, and Ice Box Lemon. | Read more
Oaxaca Club
The opening of Oaxaca Club in Jacksonville Beach on March 20 brought to the table one-of-a-kind, Latin-inspired cuisine rooted in the authentic flavors and culture of a region known as “the culinary capital of Mexico.” Featuring authentic recipes and cooking techniques native to the Mexican state of Oaxaca, the restaurant offers made-from-scratch moles, savory roasted meats, aromatic herbs, quesillo cheese and fresh-from-the-farm vegetables. Parlor Doughnuts
Parlor Doughnuts opened its third Jacksonville-area location on May 18 at 528 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach at the site of the former Wonderbird, which closed earlier this year. It is the first Parlor Doughnuts in Northeast Florida to have a drive-thru. The doughnut and specialty coffee concept is known for making its unique, artisanal doughnuts to order in small batches. | Read more
Salumeria 104
Opened Feb. 23 by executive chef and co-owner Angelo Masarin, Salumeria 104 offers authentic Northern Italian cuisine specializing in a variety of salumis, antipasti, fresh-from-scratch pasta, meats, fish and desserts featuring recipes handed down from his 96-year-old grandmother who taught him to cook as a child in her kitchen. The restaurant at 60 Ocean Blvd. takes over the spot vacated by Ocean 60 in May 2022 after a 20-year run. The third restaurant under the Salumeria 104 name, the Atlantic Beach location is the first outside of the Miami area for Masarin and co-owners Graziano Sbroggio and Carlo Donadoni. | Read more
Scramblers
Seven months after debuting in Jacksonville, Ohio-based Scramblers — known for its breakfast skillets, pancakes, omelets, burgers and sandwiches — opened its second Northeast Florida location in September at 1500 University Blvd. W. at San Jose Blvd. in the Winn-Dixie-anchored Lakewood South retail center. The new restaurant joined the region's first Scramblers at 9940 Old Baymeadows Road in the Publix-anchored Deerwood Village Mall, which opened in February. | Read more
Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery
A bakery popular for its gourmet cupcakes, wedding and other specialty cakes as well as ice cream, cookies and brownies welcomed guests to its third Jacksonville-area dessert shop in September. Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery opened its newest shop at 10111 San Jose Blvd. Suite 1 at Crown Point Plaza in Mandarin. The shop typically has about 24 flavors of which the most popular are strawberry cheesecake, Red Velvet and Wedding Cake. | Read more
Spliff's Gastropub
Known for its made-from-scratch comfort food, Spliff's Gastropub signed a lease for its second location — a 4,100-square-foot space at The Reef, a new luxury rental apartment and mixed-use complex that recently opened in Atlantic Beach. The new Spliff’s will be similar to its original location at 100 E. Forsyth St. in downtown Jacksonville, which features signature mac and cheese and puff pastries. The Atlantic Beach location also will feature an outdoor patio area, an expanded dining area and a full bar with premium cocktails and craft beer on tap. | Read more
Talkin' Tacos
Two cousins have opened the first of two Talkin' Tacos quick-service Mexican restaurants in Northeast Florida. Franchise co-owners Jason Malih and Elias Ishak debuted the South Florida restaurant at 1300 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach. Another will follow soon at St. Johns Town Center in Jacksonville. The restaurant is known for its fresh-from-scratch beef Birria — showcased in a grilled cheese sandwich, ramen bowls, tacos and burritos — as well as Carne Asada, Southwest Chicken, Caribbean steak tacos and more. | Read more
Twin Peaks
Just in time for the kickoff of the 2023 NFL season, Jacksonville’s first Twin Peaks sports bar opened at 11892 Atlantic Blvd. in the former Cinco de Mayo space in early September. The Dallas-based chain is known for its 29-degree draft beer served in frosted 22-ounce mugs, made-from-scratch menu and 43 TVs offering live sports coverage. It’s also famous for its waitstaff, known as the "Twin Peaks Girls," dressed in short denim shorts and buffalo plaid tops, often exposing their midriffs, and described as the “essential ingredient to the perfect lodge experience … equal parts friendly, engaging and attentive.” | Read more
Vicious Biscuit
A South Carolina-based restaurant that’s built its reputation for huge, overstuffed “viciously delicious” buttermilk biscuit-centric breakfast and brunch debuted March 20 in Neptune Beach at 211 Third St. in Neptune Beach. The restaurant's signature biscuit sandwiches include The Vicious, Silence of the Hams, The Sea Biscuit, The Fat Boy and The Flame Thrower. Vicious hopes to open as many as five locations in Northeast Florida. | Read more
