A popular chain restaurant, adored by pizza-lovers nationwide, has opened the doors to its very first Volusia County shop.

Jet’s Pizza, known for its made-fresh-daily Detroit-style pizza, recently welcomed customers to its newly-opened Clyde Morris Boulevard store in Port Orange.

The Michigan-born chain began in 1978 and now has over 400 locations in 22 states across the nation, serving a plethora of popular plates ranging from the Italian Deli Boat Calzone-Style Sandwich — baked with pizza dough and stuffed with ham, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato and topped with butter and Romano — and the Jet's Triple Cheese Turbo Stix, to the Jet's Wings — plain, BBQ, honey BBQ, sweet red chili, mild Buffalo or hot — and the popcorn chicken salad.

The eatery’s most famous selections, naturally, are its pizzas, ranging in crust styles from New York style, hand-tossed round and gluten-free, to thin, and seasoned cauliflower, with signature pizza servings ranging from the Aloha BBQ Chicken, Buffalo Ranch Chicken, and veggie to the All Meaty, build your own, and Chicken Bacon Ranch.

However, the star of the show is undoubtedly the restaurant’s Detroit-style deep-dish pizza.

According to its website, Jet’s puts its own spin on the classic favorite, stating, “Different than your typical pizza dough, our Detroit-style pizza dough is made from a proprietary blend of flour, milled only for us. It’s kneaded and hand-pressed into thick, steel pans. Once there, the dough rises and expands into a pillow-like form.”

The eatery prides itself on its fresh offerings, making its dough by hand each morning and using only freshly grated mozzarella, hand-cut vegetables, and homemade sauce created from vine-ripened tomatoes and Jet’s own spice and herb blend.

“When people think 'deep dish' they might think of a pizza with a thick, dense and heavy crust. But what characterizes Jet’s Detroit-Style pizza is a light airy center, loaded with toppings, surrounded by caramelized cheese and a crispy, square, golden crust that is baked to perfection,” the eatery noted on its website.

What’s more, the already-popular new pizza shop is both getting involved and giving back to its new Port Orange community this December, noting in a press release that the Jet’s Pizza Team is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program and donating $1 to Toys for Tots for every pizza sold Thursday, Dec. 7.

“We are thrilled to not only officially be a part of the Port Orange community, but to now have the opportunity to give back it,” Cameron Mckenna, franchise owner of Jet’s Pizza in Port Orange said in a press release. “We are passionate about the Toys for Tots program and the work they have been doing to put a smile on thousands of kids’ faces every year. We hope new and existing customers order up a pizza to give us a try while supporting a great cause.”

Jet’s Pizza is located at 3813 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Suite 103, in Port Orange, and is open 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday – Saturday and noon – 10 p.m. Sunday. For information, call 386-488-2939 or visit jetspizza.com.
