Residente, who prefers to talk about moments rather than social media numbers, will bring his deep raps about life, love and his passion for humanity to the stage with a tour that begins in Madrid on June 28 before heading to Miami on Aug. 25.

The prolific songwriter had the blessing of his fans in Puerto Rico in May (see below) when he performed for thousands of people at Hiram Bithorn Stadium. Best known as part of the Calle 13 duo with Visitante (Eduardo Cabra), last month’s San Juan performance was the first time Residente (René Pérez Joglar) performed as a solo artist. His self-titled album was released in 2017.

“I don’t want to talk about numbers,” Residente said during his San Juan show. “I’ve never liked math and that’s why I’m a rapper. I had to resist the urge to cry while I sang ‘Hijos del Cañaveral’ in my country.”

More than 35,000 fans in Puerto Rico, according to published reports, showed their appreciation for the Sony Music Latin recording artist whose single “Sexo” has more than 73 million views on YouTube and features DJ Dillon Francis and Residente’s sibling iLe.
