According to the County Of Los Angeles Medical Examiner's office, Rubin's autopsy has been completed. However, his official cause of death has been listed as "deferred," and his place of death has been listed as the "hospital" he was rushed to.

The medical examiner listing Rubin's death as "deferred" means more investigation needs to be undertaken to determine what led to the reporter's demise.

Following news of his passing, sources alleged to TMZ that Rubin had died from a heart attack. They also noted that he suffered a cardiac arrest before being taken to the hospital.

Rubin's tenure at KTLA spanned over three decades, beginning in 1991, where he specialized in covering entertainment, movies, and TV. His show, "Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin," produced 120 episodes under his production company SRE, Inc.

Additionally, SRE has contributed over 200 hours of programming for various broadcast and cable channels, notably including live red carpet shows. Rubin's contributions extended beyond broadcasting; he was a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association.

Rubin's accolades include multiple Emmy awards, a Golden Mic Award for best entertainment reporter, and a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association. He was also named best entertainment reporter by the Los Angeles Press Club.
