Report: Texas QB Maailk Murphy is now a full participant in spring practice

Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy is back to taking reps after starting spring ball limited by a leg injury.

Anwar Richardson of Oragnebloods reports Murphy was a “full participant” during the media portion of practice on Tuesday morning. Murphy ran with the second-team while five-star freshman Arch Manning took third-team snaps.

Getting Murphy back healthy is huge news for the complexion of Texas’ quarterback room. Steve Sarkisian emphasized Texas needs improved play from the quarterback spot this upcoming season.

Murphy and Manning are set to compete with returning starter Quinn Ewers throughout the offseason. Sarkisian made it apparent that Ewers is going to have to earn the starting role once again.

The trio of Ewers, Murphy and Manning are undoubtedly among the most talented units in college football, but none of the signal-callers are proven commodities. Healthy competition is going to be good for the development of all three players and for the Longhorns team as a whole.
