The late Kevin Conroy will reportedly make at least one more posthumous voice appearance as Batman following the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

It has long been believed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League — the latest entry in Rocksteady Studios’ “Arkhamverse” of DC video games — would mark Conroy’s final Batman performance following the beloved actor’s death in November 2022. According to IGN, however, Conroy actually recorded lines for two more upcoming DC projects prior to his passing: Bruce Timm’s Prime Video animated series Batman: Caped Crusader and the animated feature film Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three.

At this time, it’s unclear if Conroy will actually voice Batman in Caped Crusader, or if he’ll be playing another character entirely in the series. However, IGN reports that the late actor will definitely voice Batman in the Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy capper. In fact, Conroy will apparently return as Batman: The Animated Series‘ version of the Dark Knight for the multiversal animated film. That said, Conroy’s publicist declined to comment to IGN on the matter. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment also did not comment at the time of publication.

Warner Bros. Animation‘s three-part film adaptation of DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths kicked off with the release of Part One earlier this month. Parts Two and Three will follow suit later in the year. Meanwhile, Timm’s Caped Crusader has a two-season order at Prime Video. The series was previously being developed for HBO Max (now called Max).

Kevin Conroy’s Batman legacy

Conroy first voiced Bruce Wayne and his superhero alter ego in the aforementioned Batman: The Animated Series from 1992 to 1995. He reprised the role in various other DC Animated Universe projects — including shows like The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited, as well as movies like Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, and more.

Conroy also played Batman in a number of animated DC films and movies not connected to the DCAU continuity, voicing a few other characters along the way as well. Furthermore, he portrayed the character in Rocksteady’s previous three Arkhamverse games. He even got the chance to play Bruce Wayne in live-action via The CW’s own “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.

Conroy went on to write “Finding Batman,” an autobiographical short comic published in the 2022 DC Pride anthology (several months before his death). In the comic, Conroy recounts the struggles he faced as a gay actor before ultimately landing his most iconic role. “Finding Batman” won Best Short Story at the 2023 Eisner Awards.

Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part Three and Batman: Caped Crusader do not have release dates. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases this Friday, February 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
