Santana is reportedly cleared to return to the ring.

AEW star Santana has been sidelined since the Blood & Guts match in June 2022, and he has been recovering from knee surgery. In June 2023, he posted a vignette that teased his looming return, and a new report provides an update.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Santana is cleared to compete. However, while many fans have speculated that he could reunite with Ortiz, Sapp wrote that they are still not on good terms.

Sapp wrote that that had been the case, for some time even before the injury. It’s possible, though far from definite, that Santana and Ortiz could work together again at some point.

Update On Ortiz

Sapp’s report also provided an update on Ortiz. The former Inner Circle member was slated to compete for Limitless Wrestling the weekend of AEW All In, but he was pulled from the show. Sapp wrote that, per sources, the move came due to an AEW related obligation.

Per Sapp, Some AEW wrestlers are being sent to the United Kingdom that weekend, even if they’re not booked to compete, while others aren’t.

Ortiz last wrestled for AEW/ROH at the Ring of Honor television taping on April 5. His last AEW match was on the March 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. He recently competed at Wrestling Open on August 13.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
