Report: Paris Jackson is seeking treatment to 'prioritize her physical and emotional health'

Paris Jackson shut down speculation last summer that she had entered rehab as a reaction to Demi Lovato’s apparent drug overdose.

“I haven’t gone back to rehab, or to any clinic,” she tweeted in August in response to rumors that Lovato’s run-in had prompted her to address her own health concerns. “IDK who decided to make this bulls*** up for clickbait but it’s annoying! I don’t need a celebrity’s misfortune to make me healthy. I’ve had enough friends OD to send me that message!”

But sources tell Entertainment Tonight that Jackson, the 20-year-old daughter of Michael Jackson, has now decided to seek treatment.

“[Jackson] decided that she needed to take some time off to reboot, realign and prioritize her physical and emotional health,” a source told the outlet. “She checked herself into a treatment facility to aid in her wellness plan.”

Saying that the move comes after an exhausting schedule of work and travel for the model and actress, a source told People that Jackson is “looking forward to coming out of this revitalized and ready to tackle the exciting new projects that await her.”

Jackson has been open about her health, including past suicide attempts, being sexually assaulted and getting treatment for drug abuse and depression while attending a therapeutic school in Utah in her teens. She identifies herself as sober.

“It was great for me,” she told Rolling Stone in 2017 of her experience in Utah. “I’m a completely different person. … Before, I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help.”

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Jackson’s publicist for comment. Jackson herself addressed reports of her rumored treatment with an Instagram post acknowledging that she’s taking “a break from work and social media,” but said media reports were “exaggerating.” Jackson added that she is “happy and healthy and feeling better than ever.”
