PWInsider previously reported that Banks is slated to appear at the show, which will be held at the Tokyo Dome, on January 4. Another report noted that Banks’ agreement with NJPW includes a STARDOM show.
In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Naomi is set to be in Japan ahead of Wrestle Kingdom 17. Per Johnson, NJPW sources hinted that Naomi was coming to the show “of her own accord”, so she might simply be there to support Banks.
Banks and Naomi have been absent from WWE since they walked out of the May 16 episode of RAW, reportedly due to creative frustrations. They were subsequently stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship and suspended. While the duo are reportedly not listed on WWE’s internal roster, they are still on WWE’s official website. Since their walkout, Banks and Naomi have been focused on other projects; both women modeled at New York Fashion Week.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
