Report: Melissa McCarthy to host 'SNL' for the third time

Guess who’s back?

Melissa McCarthy — a fan favorite who won second place in our “Best SNL Host” poll last year — will return to helm NBC’s sketch show for the third time on Feb. 1, according to Variety. That’s the day before Super Bowl XLVIII, which this year will take place in New Jersey — less than 10 miles away from SNL‘s midtown Manhattan studio.

McCarthy previously hosted Saturday Night Live in 2011 and 2013. She currently stars on the CBS sitcom Mike & Molly and can next be seen on the big screen in a pair of comedies: opposite Bill Murray in St. Vincent de Van Nuys (opening April 11) and with Susan Sarandon in Tammy (opening July 2), which McCarthy also co-wrote with her husband Ben Falcone. (Falcone directed the film as well.)

No musical guest for McCarthy’s return has yet been announced.
