Report: Longhorns ex-foe Missouri refuses bowl game with Kansas

The Missouri Tigers want no part of playing the Kansas Jayhawks. We’re talking about football, not basketball.

A report surfaced from Action Network that brings to light Missouri’s desire to avoid a rematch in the Border War with Kansas. The refusal to face the Jayhawks is a peculiar one, but on brand for the Tigers since departing for the SEC.

Missouri players were vocal following the announcement that Texas would join the SEC. Former Tigers offensive lineman Case Cook took a shot at Longhorns players saying, “If you can’t handle a horns down gesture I figure it’ll probably be tough to play in this league.”

The bravado was bold considering Cook should have been well acquainted with Texas’ 33-16 win over Missouri in 2017. Even so, the refusal to play the Jayhawks is more evidence of the Tigers’ all roar, no bite disposition.

Kansas is vastly improved, but Missouri’s lack of faith in its football program is surprising. If the Tigers can’t handle facing the bowl-eligible Jayhawks, it’ll probably be tough to face Texas again in the SEC.
