Report: J.T. Barrett had knee surgery Sunday, will play in Big Ten title game
Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett reportedly had surgery on his right knee a day after leaving Ohio State’s game vs. Michigan.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Barrett had surgery to fix a meniscus tear and should be ready to play Saturday in the Big Ten Championship Game vs. Wisconsin.
Barrett left the game in the third quarter last week after his right knee gave way while he was running. Barrett didn’t return and was replaced by backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who finished the game.
After the game, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer was furious and said a man with a camera had bumped into Barrett on the sidelines before the game. Video from the stands shows Barrett hopping away on the sidelines in pain before the game.
Meyer also called for an investigation, but the school said it’s not making an all-out attempt to find the person who hit Barrett. Instead, the review will be a part of a larger stadium and sideline logistics review that the Big Ten is undertaking.
The No. 8 Buckeyes will be in the College Football Playoff conversation with a win over No. 4 Wisconsin on Saturday, though there would still be significant hurdles for OSU to make the final four.
