Report: ‘Furious’ Vanderpump Villa Producers Ban Eric Funderwhite From Reunion

Eric is out.

Eric Funderwhite was one of twelve cast members hired to work as Lisa Vanderpump’s staff in her French countryside estate, Vanderpump Villa. He was hired as the chateau manager, but he’s now banned after producers discovered his abusive past.

Though the rest of the cast gathered in Los Angeles to film the reunion episode on April 15, Eric was persona non grata. “Producers were furious over the shocking news, so they banned him,” a source reported.

An alleged abusive history

Pump Villa premiered on Hulu on April 1. The first three episodes dropped that day, and new episodes were released weekly afterward.

The U.S. Sun reports that Eric’s ex (who remains anonymous to protect her privacy) filed a temporary restraining order on November 13, 2020. The TRO remained in place until December 28, 2020, when it was dismissed.

Allegedly, Eric “physically assaulted” his ex and gave her black eyes. She also claimed that during their relationship, he became “even more aggressive” and “continued to psychologically and verbally abuse” her. She said the abuse was “detrimental to [her] mental health.” Allegedly, he “spit” in her face on her birthday in 2020.

As news of Eric’s abusive past surfaced, fans called for his dismissal from the show. “If there’s a second season, he most likely won’t be returning,” a source said.

On the show, Eric mentioned that he was recently divorced but didn’t share any details. He was married from September 2019 to November 2022, when his ex filed for divorce after she moved to another state. Their divorce was finalized on February 9, 2023, just months before filming started on the Vanderpump Rules spinoff.

Apparently, the entire cast, excluding Eric, was at the reunion. I wonder if his past was discussed or if producers will avoid the subject for fear of legal ramifications. None of the cast seemed to know about it while filming, and surely Lisa never would have hired him had she known his abusive history.

Vanderpump Villa is believed to be a possible replacement for Pump Rules, which is waning in popularity. Hulu has yet to announce whether it will renew Vanderpump Villa for a second season.
