A new report shines some light on WWE‘s decision to run Money in the Bank 2022 at The O2 Arena.

WWE announced the news on January 5. By holding the show in London, WWE will return to the United Kingdom for a major show for the first time since Clash at the Castle in September 2022. Given the success of the event, some fans were surprised that WWE didn’t book a stadium for Money in the Bank.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE sources say that the company views the O2 Arena as the “MSG of England”, and it was a venue the company “wanted to travel to”. Per Sapp, another source noted that holding Money at the Bank at the O2 Arena helps establish the show as one of WWE’s biggest events. There had been rumors that the Money in the Bank show would go away after Triple H rose to power, but sources say this move was never seriously considered. Additionally, there are said to be no booking plans set for the show as of this writing.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
