Lewis has coached the Bengals for 15 years, compiling a 123-111-3 record over 237 games heading into Week 15, including four division championships. But it’s his playoff record that draws the most heat: seven appearances, seven first-game losses, including a five-year run from 2011-15 where the Bengals never got past their first postseason game.
The Bengals are 5-8 heading into Week 15, and so are guaranteed not to send Lewis off with a winning season. Lewis’ departure will bring to a close the second-longest head coaching tenure, after the Patriots’ Bill Belichick, in the NFL.
